Only happiness and joy come to mind when we talk about Charlie. That’s what he brings every time he comes out to Happy Trails. Charlie began participating in a Life Skills class in Spring 2016. He was diagnosed with Autism and Apraxia of Speech (AOS) at a young age. Individuals with AOS have difficulty connecting speech messages from the brain to the mouth.
When Charlie started coming to Happy Trails he hardly spoke at all, maybe a handful of words, with zero impulse control. His instructor, Klara Bergtholdt, is proud of Charlie’s progress. “Charlie has made such gains with classes. He has increased confidence and attention.”
